David Rowlands 40/4 Chair – Erwin Roland
November 17 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Recently Erwin Rowland, wife of designer David Rowland, completed a book chronically the life and career of her husband, particularly as relates to his famous 40/4 chair. Erwin’s book chronicles the fascinating journey of Rowland’s iconic 40/4 chair, a revolutionary design that transformed the world of seating with its ability to stack forty chairs in just four feet. It features over 250 photographs and documents and provides an in-depth look at Rowland’s design process, the challenges he faced, and the eventual global success of the 40/4 chair.
On Sunday, November 17th, 2024, Erwin will be having a talk and book signing at the Smyth County Museum. Signed books we will given to individuals who make a $50 donation to the museum. This is a great deal because the books normally retail for around $70 and you get to support a local history organization at the same time! If you would like to ensure we have a book available for you at the event, you can reserve one by calling or emailing the Smyth County Museum: smythcountymuseum@gmail.com or 276-783-7286 (leave a message with your name, contact information, and that you would like a book reserved for you.)
