Smyth County Public Library: LVA on the GO

LVA on the Go, the Library of Virginia’s custom-made van, will visit the Main Library in Marion on
Saturday, April 20 from 10:00 to 2:00 as part of Smyth County’s preparations for VA 250, the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution in 2026. The program brings some of the agency’s vast resources and staff expertise across the Commonwealth. LVA ambassadors will help visitors engage with local history, family history, educational materials and more.
Throughout the day on April 20, LVA staff members will offer genealogy help, reference tutorials, library card registration as well as presentations on resources like Virginia Untold: The African American Narrative database and VirginiaChronicle.com, which provides access to over four million newspaper pages.
Plan to spend part of your Saturday at the Library to see unique artifacts from the Library of Virginia’s vast collection and learn from experts. Then on Sunday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m. attend the Smyth County Museum and Historical Society’s first program of the year “Listening Well” by Tal Stanley.
